Details		Rabbits and dogs were exposed to 2450 MHz (CW) and eyes analyzed for cataracts. The authors report: "... cataracts were produced in the eyes of anesthesized rabbits following exposure to microwaves under identical conditions to those which had not produced cataracts in the eyes of unanesthesized rabbits" ... and that this "... seemed to indicate that the temperature in the eyes of anesthetized rabbits was higher than in the eyes of the unanesthesized rabbits following exposure to microwaves under identical conditions." In a study of anesthetized dogs exposed to 2450 MHz for 10-30 minutes to determine the maximal safe temperature elevation before damage occured. Exposures that resulted in temeratures of (on average) ~38-39°C for deep orbital tissues, and ~39-40°C for vitreous and aqueous tissues produced detectable pathology in ~50% of the dogs.
