Model 2450 MHz (CW) exposure to rats (co-treated with green tea catechin) and analysis of antioxidant enzymes and lipid peroxidation
Details

Sprague Dawley rats were exposed to 2450 MHz (CW) MW for 15 minutes at an incident power density of 40 mW/cm2 with or without co-administration of green tea catechin. Enzyme activities and gene expression in the liver were then measured over a period of 16 days following exposure. The authors report changes in the activity of SOD and GSH peroxidase enzymes in MW treated animals, that recovered more rapidly with catechin feeding suggesting a protective effect of catechin on MW induced oxidative effects. In addition, lipid peroxidation was also reported increased in liver tissue following MW exposure and recovered to normal levels faster in catechin treated animals.
