Study Type In Vivo
Model 1800 MHz (GSM) exposure to mice and analysis of hematologic parameters and general pathology
Details

NMRI mice (n = 120) were exposed to 1800 MHz (GSM)for 2 h/day for 5 days using a mobile phone as a signal source and a GTEM cell. Numerical calculations estimated the whole-body SAR at 0.018 to 0.023 W/kg. The authors report a statistically significant increase in RBC count in the blood with RF exposure but no effect on serum alkaline phosphatase, glutamic-oxaloacetic transaminase (SGOT), glutamic-pyruvic transaminase (SGPT), cholesterol, or triglyceride. In addition, the authors report a statistically significant increase in serum testosterone, although no histological change in Leydig cells (chemical response, cell size, attachment, density). There were no effects on body weight or histology in the epididymus, adrenal, prostate, kidney, heart, liver, or pituitary gland either.

Up to 11 mice per cage were exposed at a single time while free-roaming yielding SARs with a wide range.
