Study Type In Vivo
Model 2.45, 3, 9.4 GHz (CW, PW) exposure to rats and analysis of behavior and neuropathology
Details

White Charles-River rats were exposed to 3 GHz (PW-1 usec pulse width, between 500-600 pulses per second) for 10 days at an average power density of 5 mW/cm2. In rats exposed to MW at 525 pulses per second resulted in occipital EEG recordings that are synchronized with the pulse frequency of the exposure. The authors suggest a synchronization of cortical neurons with the MW pulse. In another study looking at effects on behavior, rats were exposed to 2450 MHz (CW), 9.4 GHz (PW-0.15 microsecond pulses, 2000 Hz) or 9.4 GHz (PW-0.5 microsecond pulses, 1000 Hz) for 2 weeks at an average power density between 0.7 – 5.0 mW/cm2. Exposure resulted in sustained locomotor, emotivity, watchfulness, and exploratory activity vs control animals. The effects of 2450 MHz (CW) and 9.4 GHz (PW-0.5 microsecond pulsed) MW were more effective than the 9.4 GHz (0.15 microsecond pulsed) MWs.
