Mice (n=20, inbred hairless strain from the Inst. of Biophysics, Acad. of Sciences of the Czech Republic) were exposed to 34 GHz MW from a Police RAMER 7F radar device at 20 uW/cm2 for 17 hr/day, 5 days/wk, for 2 weeks. Exposure did resulted in a small decrease in leukocyte counts and an increase in GM-CFC cells as well as a slightly increased spleen mass. No significant effects due to exposure were reported for erythrocyte, lymphocyte, or granulocyte counts, total hemoglobin. There was a slight (non-significant) decrease in DNA synthesis in corneal cells, but no corneal damage. The authors concluded that no significant biological effects were observed and that the positive observations may have been related to nonspecific stress reactions mediated by skin receptors. |
