900 MHz (GSM) exposure to yeast and analysis of growth and metabolism |
Details |
|
Yeast cells were grown in the presence of glucose to drive respiration and exposed to 900 MHz (GSM) at ~38 mW/cm2 for 24-48 hours inside a GTEM cell. RF exposure caused a decrease in oxygen consumption indicating an inhibition of respiratory activity. The authors suggest additional studies are necessary to see if the effects are thermal or non-thermal in nature. |

Comments |
|
No temperature monitoring or temperature controls suggests the effects observed may be due to temperature changes within the yeast culture. |
