Balb/c mice were exposed to 1.6 GHz IRIDIUM or CW for a single 1 hour exposure at 0.23, 0.48, 1.19, 2.99, and 7.79 W/kg in the rostral forebrain and 0.22, 0.44, 1.10, 2.75, and 7.14 in the mid-caudal forebrain. No effects on c-fos were observed at the lower 3 SAR levels. At the 2 highest SAR levels (over 6x maximal peak and 30x maximal whole body average for human exposure), c-fos increased in a pattern consistent with heat stress (increases in the limbic cortex and hypothalamic & preoptic nuclei). |
