900 MHz (GSM), 50 Hz (ELF) exposure to mice and analysis of melatonin |
Details |
|
CBA/S (female) mice (n=12) were exposed to 900 MHz (GSM) at 0.35 W/kg or 900 MHz (NMT/CW) at 1.5 W/kg for 1.5 hours/day, 5 days/wk, for 17 months. The lights in the animal room were on between 7 am and 7 pm. Following the 17 month exposure, urine was collected between 6 pm and 7 am on 2 separate nights (separated by a 1 week interval) and assayed for 6-OHMS by radioimmunoassay. No significant effect were found due to the exposure. A parallel 50 Hz magnetic field study exposed mice 24 h/d to a 50 Hz vertical magnetic field (1.3, 13 and 130 µT, 78 weeks) and did not show any effect of exposure. |
