Model 2450 MHz exposure of rats and analysis of thyroid and adrenal hormones
Details

Albino CD rats were exposed to 2450 MHz (CW) at 0, 2, and 10 mW/ cm2 for 8 hours using a horn antenna in the far field. Exposure had no effect on thyroid axis function as measured by serum thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3), uptake, free T4, and adjusted T4 values. Exposure at 0 and 2 mW/cm2, but not 10 mW/cm2, had increased corticosterone levels than untreated controls. The authors interpret these findings as indicating and effect of microwave exposure on adrenal axis activity.
