Rat synaptosomal membranes were exposed to 450 MHz (CW or AM at 16 Hz) RF for 0, 5, or 15 minutes at field strengths of 0, 0.1, or 0.75 mmW/cm2. The authors report that Ca++ efflux was affected by exposure to 16 Hz modulated RF at a lower field strength than with unmodulated RF. Further, changes in Ca++ pumps and cAMP-adenylate cyclase were involved in this RF induced mechanism of Ca++ efflux. |
