Study Type In Vivo
Model 900 MHz (GSM) exposure to rats (prenatally) and analysis of behavior
Details

Wistar rats (n=80) were exposed prenatally on gestational days 1-20 to 900 MHz (GSM) RF at 0.18 - 0.75 W/kg. After birth, rats were trained to depress a lever for a food pellet reward (Skinner boxes). RF exposure did not affect performance for food reinforced lever pressing activity or inter response intervals between consecutive lever presses. Further, exposure did not cause any measurable effects on cognitive function. Planned research by the group will focus on cognitive responses as well as a variety of other physiological and biochemical parameters (stress markers, immunological responses, blood-brain-barrier, reproduction and development) following exposure to long term, low level (0.08 W/kg whole body) 900 MHz GSM and 2 GHz UMTS RF.
