Study Type Epidemiology
Model 1.2 - 1.35, 3, 5.5 and 9.4 GHz (PW) radar occupational exposure of radar workers and analysis of micronuclei formation and DNA breaks in samples of primary lymphocytes.
Details

Primary lymphocytes from human subjects (n = 12) occupationally exposed to RF were examined for cell kinetics and DMA damage. An increase in micronuclei (MN) as well as disturbances in the distribution of cells over the first, second and third mitotic division was observed in the lymphocytes of exposed subjects compared to controls. In a follow-on study, MN and DNA breaks in peripheral lymphocytes of radar facility workers (exposed to 1.2 - 1.35 GHz signals at 10-20 microW/cm2) was evaluated. The authors again report increased damage and MN following occupational exposure.
