900, 1800 MHz (NMT, GSM) exposure to humans and analysis of subjective symptoms |
Details |
|
Human subjects (7 males, 13 females) previously reporting hypersensitive reactivity to EM fields were positioned in a chair in the middle of a room and exposed blinded and intermittently to either 900 MHz (NMT) or 1800 MHz (GSM) RF from mobile phones placed a few centimeters from their heads. The phones (or a sham non-transmitting phone) were covered in bags to conceal their identity during the study. The subjects were tested 4 times for 1/2 hour each test over a single day period. During the testing, they were instructed to report any symptoms they felt. Both male and female subjects reported the largest number of symptoms during the fake exposure period. None of the subjects was able to correctly tell if the cellular phone in the room was transmitting or not. |

Comments |
|
In the study, the number of reported symptoms by hypersensitive subjects was actually higher during sham exposures than during RF exposures |
