Model 2450 MHz (CW) exposure to rats and analysis of blood brain barrier permeability
Details

Sprague Dawley rats were exposed (right brain hemisphere only) to 2450 MHz (CW) microwaves for 30 minutes to produce a core body temperature of 45 - 50 degrees. Five minutes prior to the end of exposure, animals were injected with horseradish peroxidase. Blood brain barrier leakage was observed following exposures resulting in a body temperature of 42.5 C for 60 minutes or 44.3 C for 30 minutes. Exposure resulting in 42.5-42.8 C for 30 minutes did not cause any leakage.
