Rat embryo dorsal root ganglion cells were exposed to 2450 MHz (CW) microwaves for 1 hour (at a power level of 55-60%, corresponding to a power of 280 W or less using a H2500 microwave processor - ?). Microwave exposure caused temperatures in the cultures to fluctuate from 37-39 C. Following exposure, cells were maintained for up to 21 days and examined for morphological changes, resting membrane potential, membrane resistance, membrane capacitance, Vm threshold, action potentials at half height, and peak action potentials. No effects due to microwave exposure were observed. |
