9.27 GHz (PW) exposure to mice and analysis of cancer and pathology (2-yr bioassay) |
Details |
|
Swiss Albino mice were exposed to 9.27 GHz (PW at 500 pps) at 1000 mW/cm2 for 4.5 min/day, 5 days/week, for 59 weeks. The exposure elevated body temperature by 3.3 oC. Following a whole body pathology on animals at the end of the study, white cell cancer (leucosis) and testicular degeneration were reported. |

Comments |
|
Critical reviews of the study, however, have determined that the report was of poor quality; therefore, the effects have not been accepted [see Roberts and Michaelson, Health Physics (1983) 44:430-433 and Kirk (1984), Biological Effects of Radiofrequency Radiation, Chapter 5.9, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, EPA-600/8-83-026F)]. |
