Model 900 MHz (GSM) exposure to mice and analysis of cancer and pathology (GFAP -/- knockout lymphoblastoma model)
Details

GFAP (-/-) knockout mice were exposed to 900 MHz (GSM) RF for 8 hours/day for 43 days at ~0.2 W/kg (whole body average) in a TEM cell. Mice deficient in glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) spontaneously develop lymphoblastic (non-Hodgkins) lymphomas and malignant Schwannomas. Exposure of mice did not result in an increased tumor development. Unfortunately, the expected level of tumors in control mice was 50%, and no tumors were observed. Since the background tumor rate in the controls could not be determined, the experimental results cannot be interpreted. While an increase trend for micronuclei formation, ODC activity, and polyamine levels in the peripheral blood of the exposed animals was reported, these increases were not statistically significant.
