ID Number 278
Study Type Human / Provocation
Model 10 KHz, 1.8 GHz (CW, GSM, CDMA) exposure to humans and analysisi of nerve stimulation and muscle contraction
Details

Human subjects (n=5) were stimulated with a single rectangular pulse (duration 0.5 ms) from a 1 Amp source with a voltage range of 0-1000. This pulse resulted in an 80% increase in EMG and mechanogram response as well as a perception by the subjects. A 10 KHz pre-pulse (0.1 to 5 ms at up to 200 V) was sufficient to decrease the response by the rectangular pulse, while a 1.8 GHz pre-pulse (0.1-5 ms at up to 100 Watts) was not. The authors explain this by the ability of the 10 KHz pre-pulse signal to rectify the skeletal and/or neuron cell membrane. In related studies, digital pulse-modulated (e.g. GSM, CDMA etc.) signals are also being addressed to determine thresholds for muscle excitement and health-related effects. Potential rectifying effects for microwaves in the structures of nerve and muscle cells will be examined experimentally to see if the human body can have a demodulating effect. Other ongoing studies include the effects of ELF sinusoidal and non-sinusoidal fields and currents within a frequency range of up to 1 MHz with varying phase-controlled wave shape, amplitude and frequency.
