Model 900 MHz (GSM) exposure to rats and analysis of cancer (DMBA-initiated mammary tumor bioassay)
Details

Wistar rats (5 groups of n = 100) initiated for mammary tumors with DMBA were exposed to 900 MHz (GSM) at 0, 0/44, 1.33, or 4 W/kg (whole body avg) for 4 hr/day, 5 d/wk, for 6 months in a radial exposure system (described in Kainz 2006). The authors report no RF effects on body weight, survival, or hematological data, or other physical changes. Cage control and 4 W/kg exposure groups both had increased numbers of malingnant tumors and adenocarcinoma than sham, but there was no dose response effect observed. All RF exposed groups had lower benign tumors than either sham or cage control animals. There was no effect of RF on tumor latency or tumor multiplicity.
