Study Type Epidemiology
Model Occupational and environmental exposure to microwaves and correlation with (female) breast cancer
Details

Human subjects (33,509 cases of women dying of breast cancer in 24 states in 1984-1989 and 117,794 matched controls [noncancer deaths]) were examined for a correlation with radiofrequency exposure. Exposure history was reconstructed from previous employment to create a job-exposure matrix. The authors found a small but significant increased risk for breast cancer with high levels of RF exposure in white and black females (OR = 1.14 & 1.29, repectively), but no regular and dose-response association was observed.
