30-300 MHz (VHF) broadcast tower exposure to residents of San Francisco and correlation with leukemia |
Details |
|
Human subjects (all under 21 years and including 51 cases of childhood leukemia, 35 cases of childhood brain cancer, and 37 cases of childhood lymphatic cancer between 1973-1988) were analyzed for a correlation between tumor incidence and residence near a large RF transmitter tower in San Francisco. Subjects were identified as "exposed" if they lived within 3.5 km of the tower. No increase in cancer was found associated with living in proximity to the tower. |
