900 MHz (CW, 50Hz pulsed) exposure to rat astrocytes and analysis of DNA damage |
Details |
|
Primary rat neocortical astroglial cells were exposed to 900 MHz (CW or 50 Hz modulated) at a field strength of 100 V/m for 5, 10, or 20 minutes. The authors report no change in viability (via MTT test) or lactate dehydrogenase release. They did observe an increase reactive oxygen species and DNA breaks, however, after 20 minutes of exposure. The authors suggest these effects might be due to over-stimulation of glutamate receptors. |
