Rats (n = 20) were exposed to 850 MHz (GSM) at 0.6 mW/cm2 for 1 h/day from gestation through 100 days. Learning and memory were tested on day 30, 60, and 90 using a Morris water maze. Anxiety and stress were also evaluated using an elevated cross maze test. The authors report no significant effects of exposure on weight, food consumption, or learning and memory performance. However, exposed rats did drink more water and exhibit a lower level of stress in the cross maze that they attribute to possible heating from the microwaves. |
