Mouse macrophages (MBM) derived from bone marrow were exposed to 50 Hz ELF at 1 milliT for 5, 15, 30, or 45 minutes and analyzed for reactive oxygen species (ROS) and redox-related protein expression. TPA and E coli LPS were used as positive controls for ROS and stress response induction. The authors report a 1.4 fold increase in ROS with 45 minute exposures, with non-linear changes in certain protiens (e.g., membrane-associated subunit of the NADPH oxidase complex gp91, clathrin, P13-kinase) with certain exposure times but not others. |
