Numerical modeling of microwave exposure with tumor cells and proposed mechanisms to explain immune suppressive effects |
Details |
|
Modeling of electromagnetic waves in the high GHz frequencies was performed. The authors specifically looked at interaction with tumor cells to help explain immune suppression effects observed during in vivo exposures using mice. The authors suggest high tumor antigen presentation by antigen presenting cells of the immune system normally opposes tumor growth. With electromagnetic field exposure, levels of IL-2 are increased stimulating the overall immune response (including action of antigen presenting cells) and leading to slower tumor progression. |
