Mobile phone use while driving and correlation with accidents |
Details |
|
Residents of Victoria Australia (n = 287) were surveyed over the internet to quantify the extent of text messaging and other distracting activities that they performed while driving. The authors report about 60% of drivers used a mobile phone while driving and over 30% did not use any hands free kit. Drivers (especially young drivers) often engaged in eating, drinking, smoking, reading, and other non-technology distracting behaviors as well. Most admited that such distractors can increase accidents while driving. |
