Study Type In Vivo
Model 1-2 kHz exposure to mice and analysis of testicular function
Details

ICR mice (n = 30) were exposed to 1-2 kHz for 1-2 hrs and analyzed 7 days later for sperm motility and histopathological changes in the testis. The authors report decreased motility with exposure that occured in a dose response manner. The authors suggest the magnetic field may damage either seminiferous tubules or Leydig cells, cause thickening of the basal membrane, derangement, exfoliation, massive apoptosis or necrosis of spermatogenic cells in the lumen.
