ID Number 2100
Study Type In Vitro
Model ELF exposure of cells in culture (primary human lymphocytes and human glioblastoma cells) and analysis of apoptosis, gene expression and cytotoxicity.
Details

Human primary lymphocytes were exposed to static magnetic fields at 6 milliT and analyzed for apoptosis as well as expression of genes involved in the apoptotic process. The authors report a protective effect of exposure on apoptosis (spontaneous and drug-induced), especially in aged lymphocytes that were more susceptible to apoptosis. The authors also report increased bax and p53 and decreased hsp70 and bcl-2 expression as well as other changes in a gene-, age- and time-dependent manner.
