50 Hz (PEMF) exposure to diabetic rats and analysis of tissue damage |
Details |
|
Wistar rats (n = 60) were exposed to 50 Hz (PEMF) at 5 milliT for 4 x 30 min/day at 15 minute intervals each day for 30 days. In rats treated with streptozotocin to induce diabetes mellitus, exposure reversed the diabetic decreased contraction and relaxation responses in thoracic aorta rings. Specifically, 50 Hz PEMF exposure increased relaxation response of the diabetic rings to acetylcholine and reduced the concentration response to phenylephrine. Exposure did not reverse the diabetic increase in cell membrane potential.
