Mobile phone use while driving and analysis of performance |
Details |
|
Human subjects (n = 10) were tested for driving performance on a closed parking lot area while either listening to the radio, talking with a passenger, or talking on a mobile phone. The authors report mobile phone and passenger conversation both increased reaction time by approximately 20%, as well as increasing electrodermal activity and heart rate suggested an additional stress. The authors conclude that conversations on mobile phones distract driving to a similar extent as talking with passengers.
