7.5 Hz (ELF) exposure to osteoblast precourser cells and analysis of bone formation |
Details |
|
Human mesenchymal stem cells (hMSCs) isolated from the bone marrow of adult patients were exposed to 7.5 Hz rectangular wave pulsed electromagnetic fields for 1 hr/day for 28 days. The authors report exposure increased cell count and alkaline phosphatase (an early marker of osteogenesis) during the late stages of osteogenic culture. In addition, other early osteogenic genes (Runx2/Cbfa1) and calcium deposits were also increased with exposure. the authors suggest PEMF may be an effective technology for regenerating bone. |
