Mobile phone use while driving and analysis of the impact on driving performance |
Details |
|
Driving while using mobile phones with either hands-free kits or handheld units was evaluated. The authors report that mobile phone use, regardless of phone type, was a distraction and negatively impacted driving performance, although the studies also showed that drivers tended to compensate for the distraction by driving more slowly and increasing following distance. The use of hands-free kits did not significantly improve performance. |
