900, 1800 MHz (GSM) exposure to rats and analysis of sperm viability and motility |
Details |
|
Wistar rats were exposed to 900 / 1800 MHz (GSM) for 1 hr.day, 28 days using a mobile phone an exposure source. The mobile phone was hooked up to the local network and placed inside the cages (assuming a max transmit power of 250 / 125 mW, respectively). Controls were exposed to a mobile phone without a battery. The authors report no significant effect of exposure on total sperm count but there was a significant decrease in motility and GSH content and a significant increase in lipid peroxidation in the testis and epididymis. |
