Model 50 Hz (ELF) exposure to lens epithelial cells and evaluation of DNA damage

Human lens epithelial cells (hLECs) were exposed to 50 Hz (ELF) at 0.4 mT for 2, 6, 12, 24, or 48 hrs and analyzed for DNA double strand breaks (4-nitroquinoline-1-oxide was used as a positive control). The authors report significantly increased DNA damage at 24 and 48 hrs of exposure.
