900 MHz (GSM) mobile phone use and hearing loss |
Details |
|
Volunteers (n = 323) were evaluated at the end of a 3 yr period of active mobile phone use for loss of hearing. The authors report increased use of mobile phones correlated with more significant hearing loss. The average use among heavy users during the 3 year period totaled 50.4 +/- 27.8 days. These heavy users showed a hearing loss of between 1 and 5 dB more than controls using speech tones as a test signal(p<0.001).
