900 MHz (CW) exposure to isolated rat cortical neurons and analysis of gene expression and metabolic endpoints |
Details |
|
Rat cerebral cortical neurons were isolated and exposed to 900 MHz (CW) for either 2 hr/day for 6 days or for 12 hrs straight at an SAR of 1.15, 2.23, or 3.22 W/kg. The authors report exposure caused significant decreases in GABA receptor expression (P < 0.01) with a power "window" effect. In related studies using similar exposure conditions in isolated rat neurons, the authors report decreased expression of GluR2 protien(P < 0.01), an increase in intracellular calcium, and downregulation of cytochrome oxidase with dose response relationships.
