50 Hz (ELF) exposure to rabbits and analysis of otoacoustic emissions |
Details |
|
New Zealand rabbits (n = 20) were exposed to 50 Hz (ELF) fields for 3 hrs/day for 14 days at either 5.068 or 10.182 kV/m and measured for transient evoked otoacoustic emissions on days 0, 6, and 14 after exposure. In studies of transient otoacoustic emissions, the authors found some decreases but no consistently significant effects. However in studies of distortion product otoacoustic emissions, the authors report significant reductions in DPOAE amplitude in a frequency and field strength dependent manner.
