849 MHz (CDMA) exposure to MCF7 breast tumor cells and analysis of protein expression |
Details |
|
MCF7 human breast tumor cells were exposed to 849 MHz (CDMA) at either 2 or 10 W/kg for 1 hr/day for 3 consecutive days. During exposure, temperature in the exposure chamber was maintained isothermal. Twenty-four hours after the final RF exposure, protein lysates were prepared and changes in protein expression monitored using two-dimensional gel electrophoresis. The entire experiment was repeated 3 separate times. The authors report no consistent and reproducible changes in protein expression across the 3 experiments. Three spots showing altered expression in single experiments were further identified using electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry and their expression re-examined with RT-PCR and Western blot assays. There was no alteration in their mRNA and protein levels. The authors conclude that it seems unlikely RF exposure modulates the protein expression profile in MCF7 cells. |
