Model 849 MHz (CDMA) exposure to L5178Y Tk1/2 mouse lymphoma and CHL fibroblast cells and analysis of DNA breaks
Details

L5178Y Tk1/2 mouse lymphoma cells were exposed to 835 Mhz (CDMA-like) RF at 4 W/kg for 48 hours in a TEM cell, with the final 4 hours in the presence of added low level clastogens (CPA or 4NQO). Cells were then analyzed via comet assay for DNA breaks. The authors report RF exposure alone did not affect DNA damage, but RF + CPA significantly increased DNA damage (tail moment). Similarly, CHL fibroblasts were exposed as above (+/- CPA or EMS) and evaluated visually for chromosome aberrations. The authors again report RF and low level clastogens alone had not effect, and small (but not statistically significant) increases with RF + clastogens in aberrant chromosomes in metaphase spreads.
