50 Hz pulsed EMF exposure to volunteers and analysis of EEG, motor behavior, and pain |
Details |
|
Human volunteers (n = 14) were exposed simultaneously to pain (heat) and 50 Hz (pulsed EMF) for 15 minutes at 200 microT peak field strength at the lateral midline of the cranium. The authors report that exposures induced significant activity in the anterior cingulate, ipsilateral (right) insula, and bilateral hippocampus/caudate regions using functional brain imaging, and that this increased activity correlated with a decrease in pain level. |
