Mobile phone use by teenagers and disruption of sleep schedule (use of mobile phones after bedtime) |
Details |
|
Adolescents enrolled from 15 randomly selected secondary schools (n = 1656) were questioned regarding mobile phone use behavior after bed time. The authors report mobile phone use after bedtime in teenagers is common (20% send / recieve text messages after bedtime at least 1 per wk). Only 38% did not use their mobile phone after bedtime. The authors further correlate this behavior with increased tiredness, although they admit the alternative explanation - that teens use the phone more because they cannot sleep - could also theoretically be true, although unlikely at least for the teen recieving the after hours call |
