850 and 1900 MHz exposure to rats and analysis of sperm cells and reproductive ability |
Details |
|
Sprague Dawley rats were exposed to 850 or 1900 MHz RF for 6 hours per day for 18 weeks at estimated SARs of 1.8 W/kg (AMPS), 0.9 W/kg (GSM 850 MHz) and 1.18 W/kg (GSM 1900 MHz), using mobile phones as exposure devices. The authors report exposure resulted in changes in sperm cell viability (60% increase in death) and abnormal clumping. The authors suggest carrying mobile phones near reproductive organs could negatively affect male fertility.
