Model Mobile phone use while driving and evaluation of driving performance
Details

Volunteers were assessed for driving performance in the face of three distractors: casual conversation, simple arithmetic number guessing, and number adding, all during a mobile phone conversation. The authors show that the decrease in driving performance (speed, following distance, brake time, and collisions) was directly correlated with the complexity of the distraction.
