Mobile phone use while driving and correlation with vehicle accidents |
Details |
|
Vehicle accidents in Western Australia analyzed for correlations with mobile phone use while driving. The authors conclude use of mobile phone up to 10 minutes prior was associated with resulting car accidents (OR 4.1, 95% CI 2.2-7.7), regardless of whether a hands free kit was used. Other interesting statistics: 57% of drivers have used mobile phones while driving, ~60% use a hands-free kit or otherwise do not use their hands for the mobile phone call when driving. |
