Study Type Epidemiology
Model Mobile phone use in the US (1973 - 2001) and geographical correlation with brain tumors
Details

The authors reviewed brain tumor statistics from the SEER program in the US over the period fro 1973 - 2001 and compared this with mobile phone use. The risk of brain cancer was increased 48% in men vs. women, increased 218% for elderly vs. young adults, increased 86% for caucasians vs. blacks, and 35% for those in metropolitan vs. mainly rural areas. Correlations with mobile phone use, however, were not observed. Quote: Despite raised concerns related to the risk of brain cancer from using cellular phones, our study fails to find support for this hypothesis at the population level
