Model 1500 MHz exposure to rabbits at thermal levels and analysis of how ear skin blood flow correlates with temperature elevations
Details

Rabbits were exposed to 1500 MHz for 20 minutes at 2.3, 10, and 34.3 W/kg peak and blood flow in the ear (pinnae) measured and correlated with skin temperature increase. The authors report no significant effect on skin temperature under normal conditions below 10 W/kg (0.2 and 0.8 degrees C at 2.3 W/kg and 10 W/kg, respectively). This level approximates the general public and occupational ICNIRP and IEEE C95.1 exposure limits), but when blood flow was restricted skin temperature was elevated even at 2 W/kg.
