ID Number 1668
Study Type In Vivo
Model 900, 1800 MHz (GSM) exposure to hairless mice and analysis of skin tumors
Details

Hairless mice were exposed to 900 or 1800 MHz (GSM) for either a single 2 hours or repeated 2 hr/day exposures for 12-weeks, using a head-first exposure system with a loop antenna. Local SAR at the skin was 5.8+/-0.4 W/kg for 900 MHz GSM and 4.8+/-0.4 W/kg for 1800 MHz GSM. The authors report no effects of RF exposure on skin tumors or histology, including a normal range of cell proliferation. In follow on studies, mice were exposed as above (single or repeated 2hr/day exposure) at 2.5 or 5.8 W/kg (900 MHz) or 2.5 or 4.8 W/kg (1800 MHz). The authors report no effect of RF exposure on HSP 25, HSP27, HSP70, or hsc70. Heat shock expression was increased in UVB positive control animals.
