8.5 GHz exposure to a solution of fluorescent protein and analysis of activity changes vs. conventional heating |
Details |
|
Green flurescent protein in solution was heated by either 8.5 GHz microwaves using 250 mW power or by conventional heating. The authors report a decrease in fluorescence and a spectral shift from green to red that was more dramatic with MW exposure than with conventional heating, and propose several non-thermal mechanisms. |
