Model Mobile phone use in the US (1973-2002) and geographical correlation with brain tumors
Details

Comparative analysis (ecological correlation) between the rapid rise in mobile phone use (1973 - 2002) in the US and the incidence of neuronal tumors during the same time period. The authors divided the data into two groups (1973-1985 and 1986-2002), as mobile phones were introduced into the US ~ 1986. The age adjusted rate for the 1973-1985 group was 0.01 / 100,000, and in the 1986 - 2002 group was 0.01 / 100,000. Mobile phone use, however, has increased sharply over the 1985 - 2002 time span, with an estimated 200,000 million users in 2005. Quote: these results indicate that mobile phone use is unrelated to therisk of neuronal cancers
