Model 848.5 and 1762.5 MHz (CDMA) RF exposure to DMBA initiated mice and analysis of skin tumors
Details

ICR mice (n = 80, +/- initiation with DMBA) were exposed to 849 or 1763 MHz (CDMA) for 2 x 45 minutes per day (15 minute interval between exposures), 5 days/wk for 19 weeks in a reverberation chamber with mode stirrer. Average (estimated) SAR in both exposure conditions was 0.4 W/kg, with maximum (calculated) whole body average SAR of 2.4 W/kg for 849 MHz and 12.2 W/kg for 1762 MHz exposures. TPA served as a positive control. The authors report no effects of RF exposure in promoting DMBA initiated skin tumors. In addition, there were no effects following pathological examination or PCNA staining. The expression of cyclin D1 and c-fos were detected only in skin tumor tissues of TPA-treated animals.
